Stone Water products were founded by stone family in the year 1975. The company was
initially engaged in manufacturing products for the water/waste water industry. The company
was able to position its products in the market over more than two decades of hardships and
the same supported by the
sales force deployed by the company. The company was able to
clean and make drinkable water out of the waste waters, get produced from the industries like
automotive, mining, power, pharmaceuticals, chemical processing, pulp paper etc. In the
initial days the company was not known for innovating new products. Richard stone ( son of
the founder) the CEO of the company , announced the acquisition of Goldfinch
Technologies, which is a five – year – old biochemical firm in water / waste water processing
market which was headed by Jim Billings. The rationale behind acquiring the 75- person
company is that, the targeted company was engaged in water/wastewater processing market
and the Stone water products was in the search to acquire the same kind of business. Post
acquisition of Goldfinch Technologies, the entire company was named as Stone Finch Inc.
Post retirement of Mr. Richard Stone as the CEO of the company, the board of the company
was able to make Mr. Jim Billings as the new CEO of the company, who was heading the
water product development. Mr. Jim Billings is an energetic person along with good amount
of experience in the line of business.
The present concern for the concern is that, some of the business levels of the company has
reached the saturation level and the no more the leader in the same market, which it was
ruling over last two decades. Now the company is worrisome of gaining the same amount of
market share and maintain the same pace of growth rate in the future. In view of this, the
CEO Mr. Jim Billings sense many resignations from the company middle management level.
After taking over as the CEO of the Stone Finch Inc, the company was not able to project in
the right trajectory. We may compare the performance and achievement style of Mr.Jim
Billings in both the companies i,e In Goldfinch Technologies and Stone Finch Inc.

6. The funding was not in judicious way and
it leaded to financial mismanagement.
7. The targets were not prioritized and
eventually forgetting the core business.
