Environmental problems in United States
The two major elemental problems faced in United States are –
· Air pollution - Given that the US is the world's second-largest producer of carbon dioxide, after China, it should come as no surprise that air pollution is arguably the most important environmental test in the US.
· Water pollution - Roughly 50% of the country's rivers and streams, adding up to in excess of 700,000 miles of waterways, and more than 33% of its lakes, as per an assessment by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), are debased and unsafe for swimming, fishing, and drinking (Walker, et al).
Past history
In only 2021, over 67 million tonnes of pollutants, primarily from the transportation and electric power industries, were emitted into the atmosphere nationwide. According to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA), since 2014, the country's electric power sector's coal emissions have developed in an unusual way (Li, Xiangdong, Ling & Haidong Kan).

In the US, agricultural pollution is the primary cause of contamination in lakes, estuaries, and groundwater, as well as the second- and third-largest sources of contamination in wetlands, rivers, and streams. This type of pollution is caused by the manner in which we develop, raise, move, prepare, and even store food and non-food crops as well as other agricultural goods.
