Stage 1: After reading the chapter read the documents: Guerrilla warfare" by Ernesto "Che' Guevara and the "Alliance for Progress" by John F. Kennedy.


Stage 2: Identify and read two secondary sources on the topic (i.e. search for Cold War, Jonh F. Kennedy, Ernesto 'Che' Guevara and/ot teh Cuban Revolution of 1959. One of them should be the textbook. One of them should be an outside reading from the library’s database.




Stage 3: Answer the following questions at the bottom of the page. Use a word processor (like MS Word) to write your 300-500 word response. Once you have completed the assignment, save a copy for yourself in an easily accessible place, and submit a copy to the writing assignment inbox. Do not upload a separate attachment.     According to ‘Che’, the guerrilla fight
er is a catalyst for social justice and plays the role of a social reformer. He is a bearer of the dreams and hopes of his people. The guerrilla fighter fights because he cannot be a passive witness to oppression as “the role of the revolutionary is not to sit back and wait to see the cadaver of imperialism pass by, but to facilitate the conditions that lead to its collapse” (Villegas 4). His role is to change the social system in favour of the people he represents.
2. How do you think the social and political conditions in Latin America contributed to the proliferation of guerrillas?
    The prevalence of exploitative conditions in the Latin American region which results in widespread poverty, unemployment and lack of education and healthcare are the main factors in the proliferation of guerrillas. Furthermore, the atrocities carried on by the tyrannical regimes of the region are aided, financially and politically, by the American government.
