Assessment 2 requires you to prepare a business report that addresses one (1) of the following three options. These questions relate to Topics 2, 3 and 4.


Option 1- Work design pilot at CERA (Topic 2)
Refer to the story of CERA relating to work design in Topic 2. Using the information in the topic and at least 10 additional sources published in the last ten years, provide advice to Rachel Amaro on how to design jobs in her area to support innovative behaviour. At least five of the additional sources must be academic journals or books/book chapters.


Option 2- The business rationale for diversity management (Topic 3)
Study the business rationale for diversity management and the debates surrounding this using the information in Topic 3, and at least 10 additional sources published in the last ten years. At least five of the additional sources must be academic journals or books/book chapters .

Are you convinced by the business rationale argument for diversity management? What argument would you make to Mark French regarding the business case for focusing on diversity management in CERA?


Option 3- Options for performance measurement in CERA (Topic 4)
Consider the story of CERA as it relates to individual performance measurement in Topic 4 (note that this does not include the operation of the bonus scheme). Then, answer these two questions, using the information in Topic 4 and at least 10 additional sources published in the last ten years. At least five of the additional sources must be academic journals or books/book chapters.


1. What limitations are evident in CERA’s individual performance measurement, taking into account its organisational strategy and recent developments in this HRM practice as reported in professional literature provided in Topic 4?
2. Recommend two alternative measurement approaches and indicative methods within each approach that you believe could work in CERA to address the limitations.

Executive Summary
This business report is made as per the requirements of the course of the company and I have chosen option 2 i.e. the business rationale for diversity management. Diversity is one of the most important aspect of human resource management and is important for the organization, as diversity helps the organization to growth.
Organizations prefer to have competitive edge with the help of innovative ideas and strategy which is possible with the help of the diverse workforce.
For preparing the report, different aspects of diversity was learned and applied in the report with a particular focus on gender diversity and inclusion of diversity in the organization. For analysing this I have taken the help of different journal articles, books and online resources.
Considering the current scenario, CERA does not have a diversified workforce and to cope up with the changes and the competitive environment, kit is important for the company to include diversity in the organisation.
Introduction
Nowadays, diversity in the organisation is increasing rapidly due to the globalization, migration of people and technological advancement. Due to the globalization of the world, people are seeking for good opportunity and they migrant from home country to another country and, it resulted diversity in organisation. Diversity management is one of the moldable business philosophy which the organization s apply to their human resource capital so as to attract more innovation and strength to the company. The task at CERA is to reinforce the benefits of the diversity within the organizations by analysing the short term as well as the long term benefits that the organization can achieve from its diversity program.
From the analysis, we could say that the company also required collaboration between the different human resource activities and the strategy of the organization, so as to achieve the set goals of the company.
Diversity management
Diversity in organisation brings not only race or ethnicity but, also include religious, political belief, gender, socioeconomic background, sexual orientation and geographical location. Diversity is defined by different authors through different means which includes the diversity in terms of gender, age, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, and disability (Wheeler, 1994). The diversity includes the different aspects in the terms of values, physical appearance, sexual orientation, beliefs, education, personality characteristics, language, marital status, lifestyle, and background characteristics such as geographic origin, tenure with the organizations, and economic status (Triandis, 1994). Today, the organizations are making an effort to have a diversified workforce across its organization which has been a boon to the company. The government and the other agencies have also become strict by enforcing equal employment opportunity to the company. The government makes sure that the companies are including diversified workforce. (
The companies are emphasizing on different aspects of diversity inclusion in their organization so as to cultivate creativity, diverse thinking, innovation and productivity.
Gender Diversity
Nowadays, Gender diversity is becoming essential part in the organisation. Gender diversity refers an equitable ratio of man and woman. If organisation don’t manage diversity properly, they will leave behind and, may cause to capital investment and stock holders. Therefore, diversity need to be managed in organisation. management of gender diversity may benefit to organisation reputation, increasing in performance and, most importantly, organisation will get widen talent pool. Gender diversity can be said as the diversity of the gender i.e. the Men and Women. There are many companies which does not include and give opportunities to the female candidates as compared to the male candidates. They emphasize on preferring a male candidate over many jobs. It is important for an organization to have a gender diversified organization as it helps in providing boon to the company in terms of exposure, diversified knowledge and different thinking style. Gender diversity in the leadership roles helps in presenting positive outcomes. As per the study of McKinsey, women has the art of multi-tasking, higher analytic skills, higher propensity to focus and meet the organizational goals and mission of the company.
