Philosophy: Open and Closed Questions
Philosophy literally means the love of wisdom. The term “philosophy” denotes
that “contemplation or study of the most important questions in existence, with the end
of promoting illumination and understanding, a vision of the whole” (“Part I: What is
Philosophy?”, n.d.). In other words, “philosophy is an activity people undertake when
they seek to understand fundamental truths about themselves, the world in which they
live, and their relationships to the world and to each other” (“What is Philosophy?”,
n.d.). As an academic discipline, philosophy is based on some fundamental questions
answering which one can be able to understand that secret of life, birth, death, and the
universe. It is a subject that is often considered as the mother of all sciences and in
essence it is the true means of acquiring the right knowledge about the self and the real
