Sporting events: Analyze the following sporting activities according to the instructions.
a. Skiing: A skier is going down a ski slope at Park City, Utah. The hill is initially gentle, but then it gets steep about halfway down before flattening out at the bottom. Locate position on the slope as the distance from the top, and make graphs of location and velocity.
b. Practicing for the NCAA basketball tournament: You are bouncing a basketball. Locate the basketball by its distance up from the floor. Make graphs of location and velocity.
c. Hiking: The graph of the distance west of base camp for a hiker in Colorado is given in Figure 6.27. Make a graph of velocity versus time, and then make up a story that matches this description.
