Soybean oil will be obtained by extracting soybean seeds with pure hexane. The composition of mushy soy seeds contains 18% oil, 70% solid matter and 12% water by mass. The pulp (rafinate) discharged after the extraction process contains 1% oil, 88% solid matter and 11% moisture (water) by mass. 1 kg of hexane is used as the solvent for every 1 kg of solid substance fed into the extractor. The solution (extract) from the extractor is sent to a separator and all the water and hexane in it are removed and pure soybean oil is obtained, which is purified from hexane and water. Since 120 kg soy porridge is fed to the extractor per hour,
a) Calculate the mass of hexane entering the extractor, (kg)
b) Calculate the mass (kg) of the pulp (oil + solid matter + water) thrown out at the end of the process,
c) Calculate the mass (kg) of the obtained solution (oil + water + hexane)
d) Calculate the mass percentage composition of the obtained solution (oil + water + hexane),
e) Calculate the mass (kg) and percentage composition of the hexane + water mixture removed from the separator.
f) Calculate the mass of oil obtained at the separator outlet.
