Type and Purpose of the Group
This is a social group, which has been formed to provide assistance in times of need during the crisis. It aims to provide food and clothing materials to the people on the street who cannot get their food daily. While doing so, maintaining the social distance and making the educated regarding what to be done to prevent the spread of the diseases will be taught. In order to fulfil the purpose as mentioned above, this group has been formed with mutual friends and acquaintances from diverse backgrounds who came up as volunteers to do their services for society and the deprived community.
Group Development Stages
As stated by Tuckman in the year 1965, it undergoes five different phases, which is necessary to work on a particular goal with a shared value and norm (Jie, 2017).
Forming
Group development takes time and the way it moves from forming to the adjourning phase where at first the team goals have been set up and then individual roles have been determined, which has been done through discussion with others and then forming (Jones, 2019). The ideas were formed through brainstorming, where the opinion of each person was considered.
The members of the group have worked together, which has increased the strength of the group to a major extent where conflicting opinions were sorted through discussion mutually where everyone's point of view was undertaken to enhance each member's participation and make them feel worthy.
Storming and Norming
At this phase, there were conflicting opinions regarding the manner the poor street people were served. However, there have been many group discussions, which have taken place while focusing on individuals' needs. The role of each person who will be serving the poor has been discussed at this stage, while the responsibilities together will lead to fulfilling the purpose of the group formation (Vaida & Serban, 2021).
