1. How does the plant get biological organisms into the reactors?

Ans. Biological organisms are fed into the reactors in the form of activated sludge. The activated sludge contains both aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, fungi and protists. These microorganisms are used to degrade the organic materials present inside the waste water. It is generally used during secondary and tertiary treatment of waste water.
