1. Facts and opinions in source-1
Opinion1-Lawson described worries about climate change as “rubbish” and said that world leaders should be focusing on real issues.
Opinion2- popular climate change campaigner, P
rofessor Brian Cox, who hosts television shows on the BBC, tweeted- “Irresponsible and highly misleading to suggest that there is a meaningful debate about climate change.”
Fact- Lord Lawson is not a scientist and should not be invited to give his views on climate change.
Opinion 1 and 2 are stated as opinion reason being they are viewpoint or thought process of individuals and doesn’t have any facts and figures to prove it as fact. Individuals can have different opinions and say.
Fact mentioned here is a true statement which does not require any proof as such. Also the last statement for which BBC have previously apologized supports the fact that climate is not an out-of-step with scientific community.
2. Key ideas from source 2 are as follows-
Idea 1- To stop climate change disruption and reverse its impact, the future policy of Paris agreement states exactly what needs to be done. However, it needs to take stronger actions.
Idea 2- UN-secretary general Antonio Guterres is calling leaders to make realistic plans so that greenhouse gas emission can be reduced by 45% over next decade and can be reduced to 0 by 2050. For this big changes in economies and societies of nation are required.
These two ideas will help to control the climate changes only if government sector, private sector, international organizations and civil societies work together to solve the economic issues raised by applying the above mentioned ideas.
3. Source 3 and 4 collectively gives the information that as per plan laid by countries to change economies which will result in reduced greenhouse gases emission, only few countries are working on this. Climate change is causing huge impact on ocean level and ice caps. Ice caps are melting every decade whereas ocean level is rising which can have worst impact on livelihood of people along with can cause natural disasters like flood, draught, storms and cyclones etc.
