Some questions to ask yourself are:
Question: What type of patient is the decision aid designed for?
Rationale: Applying evidence across different population groups needs caution. The rate of a particular outcome can change in certain patient subgroups (e.g., age, family history, ethnicity and social circumstances can all have an effect).
Question: What health decision is the tool designed for?
Rationale: It is important to ensure that the tool aligns with the decision facing your patient.
Question: Are the options relevant to the patient's context?
Rationale: Some treatments may not be available or affordable in particular contexts.
