While an effective organizational assessment (‘OA’) identifies organizational competencies, the driving force for conducting an OA is typically deteriorating performance. High turnover, dropping sales and profits, poor public image or brand, etc. are some of the obvious markers for a deteriorating organization. When these realities confront management, they and perhaps their hired consultants set about identifying the source or sources of the dysfunction as the first step in seeking solutions. For your Case Assignment, you will select: - The organization that you plan to use for your Signature Assignment and for this Case Assignment. This organization may be any of the following: An organization (for-profit or non-profit) you work for or are considering working for that you believe exhibits organizational issues. An organization in which you have some interest, unique insight or specific familiarity that you believe exhibits organizational issues. An organization that has come under high profile scrutiny for poor performance, internal turmoil, significant layoffs, etc. Examples of these types of organizations include such companies as: Carnival Cruise Lines, Foxconn (Apple’s Chinese contract manufacturer) and HP. Your paper should contain the following: Write a general description of the organization and the environment in 1 / 3 which it operates. - A description of problems that are occurring that you believe would justify an in-depth organizational assessment. Be specific. Write an analysis based upon your course readings to date and your own personal knowledge that contains some preliminary theories as to the various causes for the poor performance. Write how the organization can (or should) set about assessing its current condition. Required length: 3 pagesexcluding title page, bibliography and appendices (if applicable). Use APA format. Use information from the modular background materials as well as any quality resources you can find via the online libraries or Internet.
