Meet Aaron, a 24-year-old Caribbean immigrant male who is seeking an assessment due to increased anxiety and depression following the death of his younger brother (Walden University, LLC, 2021). As a culturally humble social worker, it's essential to understand that Aaron has a unique story, and assumptions based on his group membership should be avoided. To better understand Aaron's situation and provide the necessary support, it's important to use motivational interviewing and engagement skills to create a safe space for him to open up.
During the assessment, Aaron revealed a need for counseling services and possibly CBT or DBT to address his feelings of helplessness and tackle the emotions surrounding his family.
