Executive Summary:
In this report, electric generation sector has been analysed who understand its role in emitting carbon dioxide and the steps and initiatives that has been taken by the government to reduce that in terms of providing subsidy, grants, etc. and if that has actually been successful in reducing the emission of carbon dioxide gas in the environment.
Electricity generation sector emits
highest amount of carbon dioxide gas in the environment. Industrial data of three countries including USA, UK and Australia has been studied to understand its impact. Government of all these three countries are taking measures to limit the emission of carbon dioxide to a certain level and is instructing the electricity generation companies to follow that. It is compulsory in Australia and UK to produce a part of electricity using renewable sources of energy. Grants and funds are being provided to companies which are accepting projects to produce electricity using renewable sources.

1. Introduction:
Climate change has become a severe issue in the contemporary time. Business organizations are the main contributor for this. Industries are leaving greenhouse gases in the environment continuously. Even though corporate social responsibility has become a popular concept among different business organizations yet government has to take initiatives to promote sustainability in the business for increasing awareness (Unit et al. 2015). For that, government is providing subsidies, grants money under several schemes to business enterprises which are adopting environmental sustainability features in the operational activities to reduce emission of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases in the environment.
2. Climate Change:
Climate change can be referred to as the change in weather patterns due to emission through various human activities. Global warming is being caused due to change in climate as temperature all over the world is rising. Icebergs at North and South pole are also melting down, leading to increase in the sea level (Caney 2015). Several industries like electric generation industry, car industry, agriculture, forestry, commercialization industry has a huge role in climate change. Residential people also equally contribute towards it as many of the gadgets used in the household emit greenhouse gases tech refrigerator, microwave oven, light, several other electrical appliances, etc. Such emission is degrading the environment, loss of habitat of plants and animals, leading to fall in the quality of air, water, soil, etc.
Even though the severe global warming has increased awareness among people yet still it is not enough and better and efficient steps are to be taken (Urry 2015). Both household people as well as business enterprises are moving towards sustainability. But still in most of the industries, the steps are very small compared to the huge overall impact. Corporate social responsibility is still optional and is not compulsory by government rules and regulations in most of the countries.
3. Overview of the industry:
Electricity generation industrial sector is the largest contributor towards emission of carbon dioxide gases. electricity is generated using nuclear power, petroleum, coal, natural gases, oil, etc (Pfeiffer et al. 2016). In US, electricity generation sector emits around 25% of the total carbon dioxide gas in the environment.
