Skin cancer In February 2012, MedPage Today reported that researchers used vemurafenib to treat metastatic melanoma (skin cancer). Out of 152 patients, 53% had a partial or complete response to vemurafenib.
a) Write a 95% confidence interval for the proportion helped by the treatment, and interpret it in this context.
b) If researchers subsequently hope to produce an estimate (with 95% confidence) of treatment effectiveness for metastatic melanoma that has a margin of error of only 6%, how many patients should they study?
