Until then, reading and learning as much as you can about what will one day be the source of your bread and butter will make you a great criminal justice practitioner. You are to select one country in the world. You will compare and contrast the criminal justice system of that country with the American criminal justice system we are studying. You must do thorough research on the country to compare and contrast with the United States system of justice. This is not a team project. You may not work together or share research with your fellow classmates. The paper should be organized in the following manner: Introduction: What country you have selected and why. Preliminary information: the history of that country’s criminal justice system. i.e. how old is the country and give a general historic perspective on the history of the criminal justice system in that country. Main part: To narrow down your topic, you will select a topic of your interest (i.e. incarceration, policing, the judiciary, trial process etc.) and will detail your research results in a clear, concise and properly structured paper. Compare and contrast the specific topic you have chosen (i.e. jail system in XYZ country versus jail system or system of punishment in the U.S.) You must use APA Style. You are highly encouraged to visit the Academic Center so the center can help you edit and organize your paper. Grammar and spelling error will reduce your grade so don’t neglect this! Conclusion: Which system do you prefer and why? Bibliography: you must cite all material used. Please prepare an APA styled bibliography. The internet cannot be the sole source used. Length: 10 pages double-spaced, size 12 font (courier or times new roman only) with one inch margins on 8x10 paper Must be typed and submitted through blackboard. A successful research paper (grade of B and above) will contain a detailed bibliography, APA writing style, correct spelling, punctuation and grammar. The internet is NOT YOUR MAIN SOURCE OF INFORMATION. You must visit the school library online or in person, and conduct your research using the periodicals, journals and texts provided at the library.
