Six months later, P.J. was admitted to the emergency department with severe abdominal pain and vomiting. A purulent cervical discharge was obvious, and initial examination of the exudate indicated infection by N. gonorrhoeae as well as other microorganisms. A tentative diagnosis of PID was given.
