Choose a television family that is likely to have child protection intervention if living in
our society. Review the Signs of Safety Assessment and Planning model introduced in
the course text:

Part 1
• Introduce the television family you have chosen with a brief description of family
members in the home and relevant family or friends that live outside of the home.
• Describe a scenario (fictional or from an episode) that resulted in a child
protection referral, including information about the person who made the call.
• Describe how the family reacted when the child protection agency met with them
for an interview.
Part 2
• Complete a Signs of Safety Assessment & Planning Form.
• Family Goals and Progress Notes will be fabricated based on what you know of
the characters involved.
• This form can be completed in table format with bullet points.
Part 3
• Describe your experience using the tool. Was it easy to identify risks and signs of
safety?
• What are the perceived benefits and limitations of the tool?
• What is your overall evaluation of the tool?
