Task Description/ Outline:

Task Type: Visual Representation: PowerPoint/Prezi

Overview:

The Industrial Revolution transformed the lives of people in Britain, and eventually the world forever. Some of these changes were welcomed by people at the time while others were fiercely resisted. The Industrial Revolution resulted in both short and long-term impacts, including global changes in landscapes, transport and communication.

Task Description:

Choose an area/event/issue/group of interest to you from
The Industrial Revolution
and conduct research so that you can create a presentation that helps young people today to understand what it was like for some people experiencing such dramatic change (see below for some suggestions).

Your presentation
(PowerPoint/Prezi)
should be in a style that reflects your individual interests and abilities. We would encourage you to
create a Prezi, as this form of presentation is more engaging for an audience. You will present your findings to your Year 9 History class during
Week 6 and Week 7 of Term 1.

Areas you might investigate:

Ø Changes in agriculture-such as enclosures, new innovations, new techniques

Ø Innovations/inventions developed for the Industrial Revolution

Ø Changes in transportation-roads, canals and railways

Ø Work conditions in factories or specific industries such as coal or textiles

Ø Exploitation of workers such as child labour and women

Ø Rapid growth of cities and the living conditions

Ø Global changes in landscapes -Pollution and environmental impact

Ø Spread of diseases

Ø Colonies in the British Empire and trade

Ø Changes in communication

Instructions:

1. Present a 10 slide PowerPoint/Prezi that covers ONE of the above topic areas.

2. Suggested word lengths for each section are 100 plus words. This does not mean all the words on the screen. Decide what words are engaging and put the remainder of your words on palm cards. It would be best NOT to read directly from your presentation. This can be a bit boring. Palm cards are advisable.

3. Include a detailed bibliography using the online reference generator for Senior School on the school intranet page of between 6-8 sources.

4. Palm cards must be submitted
