  • Select a specific art form from Part Two ofThe Humanities Through the Artstextbook and focus on a specific topic by either selecting a subject identified in the chapter of an idea of your own.For example,

    • you may select the “Painting” chapter and choose to create a researched assignment on a particular artist or style of art found within that chapter

    • or make a relevant choice of your own.

  • As examples of either the artist's style or if your choice is a sub-genre of the art form, apply representational example(s) of the selected artist’s or style’s work which uses content explanation from the chapter as part of the discussion. Clearly identify with page numbers.

Points to consider when creating your presentation:

  1. What formal vocabulary or terms used within the chapter can be applied to my explanation on this topic?Support your ideas with references to the textbook.

  2. Include carefully selected research information about your topic and make notes on the context of the artist, the art form you are studying, and/or the particular piece of work you are exploring. Here are some questions to ask yourself:

    • What points of context or personal background are important to know about my topic?

    • Does the historical, political, or geographical setting influence the artist or the work?

    • What quotes are important to include from my researched information?

    • Are there any interesting or unusual details I discovered through my research as related to my topic that should be included in the presentation?

  • 3. Research should come from a variety of sources:

    • At leasttwo print sourcesfrom booksand/or journal articles from KCC’s Literature e-resources.Go on-line to KCC’s Library page and view its list of Electronic Sources for these references; use Ask a Librarian or contact KCC for passwords where needed.

    • Include textbook references

    • General web search may also be used along with encyclopedias and dictionaries.

  • Keep careful documentation on all materials used and identify both direct quotations and summaries.

4. Organizeyour notes into a logical order and place the information onto power point slides.

5. Includeimages and web links to enhance your presentation.

6.The duedate for this assignment is during the unit of study for the chapter you choose to represent.

How you will be graded.Your finished presentation should:
