Select a project from the workshop, or from your work context. Assume the project is about to commence. Prepare a report to the Project Board giving advice about how to manage the complexity. Describe the project, its background and the major constraints (maximum 500 words). The body of the report should discuss: • Leadership qualities/ leadership approach • Governance framework that would support project delivery • Advice on how to identify and manage emergent risks • Any special tools, (in addition to standard project management tools) that might be helpful to the project team, explaining how those tools are used, with examples, and when in the project life cycle they would be applied and what extra value the tools deliver. In the report you should also: • Access the academic literature to support assertions with research. • Refer to practical examples from the literature to illustrate assertions. • Anticipate objections by the readers (CEO and Board) and address those objections in the discussion. • Use language that the CEO and Board would relate to.
