This is a group assignment and every effort should be made to ensure that all students engage in this exercise.This assignment will enable students to identify the challenges of Project Management in the global business environment, and to develop the following skills: teamwork due to the group nature of the task, written communication, and research skills from gathering information from multiple sources about their assigned topic.Specification of AssignmentThis assignment requires the submission of a maximum 3,000 words report which shows an understanding of the different aspects of Project Management and how companies have applied the theory in practice. This assignment takes the form of a report.show examples from industry. The project requires the students to apply the theories and concepts learnt in class to show successful examples or solve actual project management problems. Students must apply one of the aspects of project management such as project plan, risk management, resources allocation and reducing project duration. Any justification or any recommendations made, must be clearly shown in the report.Students should ensure that they are familiar with the university polices on plagiarism. Students should familiarise themselves with the University’s policy on the late submission of module work. Students should also complete the Team Agreement Form which can be found in the appendices at the end of this study guide.Format of AssignmentThe required format for the layout of the report is as followsAssignments must be typed using size 12 font, Times New Roman font style and 1.5 line spacing, 2.5cm margins.The report should contain a minimum of 2500 and a maximum of 3000 words. The word count is from the start of the Executive Summary to the end of the Conclusions sections and does not include the cover page, references and appendices. The report should be in the following format:o Title Page Student names and numbers, case name, declaration of own worko Cover page as per UCD specifications.o Executive Summary In a single paragraph, summarise the contents of the entire report. This should be written once the rest of the report is completed, so that you know what you are summarising.o Introduction Briefly give an introduction to the sector you have been assigned to. Briefly give an introduction to the project you have chosen. Outline your plan to analyse, i.e. what aspects of project management you will use.o Analysis Outline the topics and the elements of theory or frameworks then describe a company that has applied this theory in project management and show how this has been done. You should not spend too many words describing the theory you use (referencing it is sufficient), but devote most of the effort to applying the theory to the information you have obtained about the project.o Discussion and Conclusions In this section, you discuss your findings and explain why your chosen project in the given industry/sector can be deemed a success or failure – what worked well and why, what did not work and why, and what your group would have done differently if you were the project manager. Discuss what best practice is for companies who want to apply the theory successfully. Explain what you think are the limitations to the theory and what can be improved upon. Identify the key learning points and what your group learned from undertaking the assignment.o References All third party material used in the report must be listed here using Harvard referencing system. These must be correctly cited where used in the body of the report.o Appendices Other appendices may include detailed tables of calculations or information sources.
