Sample 1 Evidence: Sample 2 Evidence: Sample 3 Evidence: Analyze the evidence and the physical properties of the material. Key properties such as color, density, chemical or biological composition should be discussed. Describe how this evidence was correctly collected from the scene. Necessary tests to be performed on this type of sample. Hypothetical results recorded. Imagine that the results came back from the lab. Describe what type of results you would expect for each piece of evidence. You may have to be creative and decide if the lab testing reveals more about the crime or the criminal or not. Apply the hypothetical results from the evidence collected to the investigation and include discussion about how the results could influence a decision in a trial setting. References: 1. 2. QUESTION # 1 ( ONE PARAGRAPH) Looking at the five basic urban-policing problems that lead to deviance, which are the most important? Which can be influenced by a first-line supervisor? QUESTION # 2 Topic 2: What Would You Do? ( ONE PARAGRAPH) Officer Nick Brown has been a police officer with the Spring Town Police Department for 2 years. Officer Brown is well liked by the other officers, and Police Chief Thompson has commented that Officer Brown would be a good candidate for the next Criminal Investigators position. You are Officer Brown’s sergeant. Within the past 6 months, you have started getting an unusual amount of citizen complaints concerning Officer Brown. Recently, a citizen complained that $500 was missing from her husband’s pants pocket after Officer Brown had investigated a deceased person. This man had died after suffering from what appeared to be a heart attack. Officer Brown entered the house and had the wife wait in another room while he checked the body. All this occurred before the ambulance or anyone else had arrived. The deceased’s wife said that she was fairly certain her husband had $500 in his pocket when he suffered the heart attack, but it was now missing. Officer Brown and the ambulance workers claim that they never went through the man’s pockets. This is just another example of the recent types of complaints you have received on Officer Brown. As Officer Brown’s sergeant, how would you deal with this situation? If there was no legal evidence to indicate that Officer Brown was taking goods and money, would you, as supervisor, say anything to him about your suspicions? If so, how would you go about it? Is there any other action you could take to either obtain evidence against Officer Brown for termination purposes or stop this sort of behavior from happening again? QUESTION # 3 CJ345-5: Evaluate the role supervisors play in the maintenance of good order within criminal justice agencies. Scenarios: Bad Behavior and the Difficult Employee Read each of the scenarios below and write a 2-page response (for each scenario) that evaluates the role the supervisor played in the maintenance of good order within the organization. Scenario 1: Bad Behavior? ( 2 PAGES) Sergeant Stevens, the sergeant on the evening shift, reported to you (the shift lieutenant) that after roll call he heard two male officers telling sexually explicit jokes in the hallway. As the sergeant exited the roll call room, he noticed one of the female dispatchers standing within a few feet of the two officers. The sergeant chose to ignore the immediate situation and just made a report to you. Scenario 2: The Difficult Employee ( 2 PAGES) Officer Smith has become very difficult to deal with. During roll call, he is sarcastic about any new policy changes, orders, or directives given to him or the group. He is also one of the most productive officers you have, and other officers respect his leadership abilities. Recently, his sergeant brought disciplinary charges against Officer Smith. This resulted in a suspension and Officer Smith has now become far less productive. Address the following issues in your paper: · Evaluate the sergeants’ responses to the scenarios. · How did the sergeants respond in both scenarios? · How do the sergeants’ actions ensure the maintenance of good order? If they do not maintain good order, what specifically about the sergeants’ actions disrupt that order? · In each scenario, how could the sergeants have done better? · What should the sergeants do in each case to ensure good order? · Write a 2-page response for each scenario. QUESTION # 4 The earth is made-up of all sorts of elements. Atoms of these elements combine to form molecules, and in turn molecules combine or change as chemical and biological processes occur. In this week’s textbook readings you will learn about how the nucleus of the atom contains protons and neutrons, tightly packed together and storing great amounts of energy. While the vast majority of atomic nuclei are extremely stable, some specific types of atoms can spontaneously lose these atomic particles, with high levels of energy. This release of energetic particles is called radioactive decay, and the particles represent a form of radiation. The discovery of radioactive elements has led to a variety of new technologies designed to harness the energy released when atomic particles separate from the atom, or that can track radioactivity in biological organisms. One of the pioneers in the discovery of radioactive elements was Marie Sklodowska Curie. Curie worked along with her husband, Pierre Curie, to isolate uranium and eventually she discovered that uranium decayed (lost atomic particles) to become radium and polonium, two elements that were completely unknown before she isolated and described them. For her work on radioactivity and the discovery of radium and polonium, Curie won two Nobel Prizes, one in chemistry and another in physics. Not only was she the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, but she was the first person and only woman to win two Nobel Prizes, and the only person to win a Nobel Prize in two scientific fields. Unfortunately, her work also eventually led to her death from radiation exposure. Once radioactive decay was discovered, other researchers began to work on ways to use this knowledge for real-life applications. Harnessing the energy that is released from the decay reactions became one of these applications. As a result, nuclear energy production and nuclear weapons were developed. Other uses of nuclear technology include medical imaging, medical treatments, agricultural, scientific, and industrial applications. The continued use of nuclear technologies has great promise for producing energy around the world, but is also controversial because of the potential harm from radioactive substances to humans and the environment. You can learn more about nuclear technologies from the resources below. Also feel free to conduct your own research: · U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Nuclear Energy. What is radioactive decay? What are examples of elements that are radioactive? 2. Research one example of a nuclear technology. a. What nuclear technology did you choose? b. What does this technology do and how does it use radioactive elements? c. What are the benefits of this technology? d. What are the negative effects of the technology? 3. When Marie Curie discovered radium and polonium, she opened the door for new research that has led to nuclear technologies, but that can also be harmful to humans. a. Do scientists have a responsibility for shielding the public from potentially dangerous discoveries? Why or why not? 4. What are your opinions about nuclear energy? Do the benefits outweigh the risks? Include the information that has led you to that opinion. 5. Do you think that nuclear applications for medicine should be pursued? Why or why not? Do the benefits outweigh the risks? QUESTION # 5 TEMPLATE ATTACHED SEPRATELY PLEASE VIEW 2ND ATTACHMENT The Importance of Forensic Evidence One of the most powerful parts of a case against a criminal can be the forensic evidence that is collected and presented. Dramatic breakthroughs in both the scientific and technological fields have greatly impacted the criminal justice system. Imagine that a recent crime wave has swept your city. You came home last night to find that your home had been burglarized. Understandably, the police and crime lab are overworked and in need of help. Physical evidence (meaning any materials at the scene of the crime that could be valuable to a criminal case) was collected by crime scene technicians at your residence and from a possible getaway car. Review the evidence that was collected from the crime scene. You will need to complete the Assignment template provided after considering the following information: · Choose three pieces of evidence that were collected from the crime scene to examine in detail. · Define the physical properties of the evidence collected. Also include any biological, chemical, or other characteristics of the data that would be important to the investigation. · Explain what specific tests would be performed on the evidence and what information can be extrapolated from this evidence · Hypothesize how the evidence could be used in the investigation and at a trial.  Note that although this is largely a hypothetical investigation, the description of a material and how it is tested will be factual and you will need to conduct research using the PG Library to identify reliable sources. The final results and importance of the evidence in an investigation will be up to your interpretation and will be largely hypothetical. Question 1
The five basic urban-policing problem that led to deviance are firstly, the Corruption, secondly, the misconduct, thirdly, the excessive force, fourthly, the police brutality and finally, discrimination. As stated by McGlynn-Wright, Crutchfield, Skinner and Haggerty (2020), the most important among these five basics urban-policing pro
blem are corruption, discrimination and misconduct, which are usually found these days. All these five urban-policing problems are related to the first-line supervisors, as they had to inspect, manage, and supervise the entire team. Corruption as well as discrimination and misconducts are mostly found within them. A first-line supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily work activities of the production workers and operators in the manufacturing facility.
Question 2
Officer Brown has been a police officer with the Spring Town police department for 2 years where he had gained and earned respect for his dedication and day and night effort. He also achieved the good candidate award and he is being appointed for the next criminal investigating position. Therefore, going against him would be a big deal. The cases and the claims against him raised by the common public were no doubt true. However, without solid evidence no one has the right to charge responsible for any particular offense. Therefore, as his sergeant I would try to either make him aware of the fact by putting example of his reputation and the position he holds or by conducting a meeting session by calling the public or the citizen and directly confess or discuss the matter of missing of the money and good with Mr. Brown face to face.
Question 3
Scenario 1
Supervisors within the criminal justice agencies have to perform a huge role, as they are the in charge of the entire team to manage, operate, supervise and guide them towards the right track. Their position demands strong leadership quality, self-confidence, competence, and management skills in order to understand the subordinates and the work of the department.
Police supervision is the act of supervising, directing, or overseeing the day-to-day work activities of police officers. As they have to deal the entire police team, their performances as well as have to control the crimes rates therefore, they should possess certain leadership qualities. As stated by Nisar and Rasheed (2020), firstly, they should have the active listening power in order to understand the basic complains as well as the sufferings of not only the common citizen but also the other police staffs.
As per the case scenario, the supervisor should actively listen every word and sentence of the sergeant who reported about the two male officers regarding their sexually explicit jokes of one of the female dispatchers. Secondly, with strong sense of humour identifying the two male officers’ inner quality and behaviour is yet another major characteristic of the supervisor in this regard. True leaders should never demean any victims or circumstances because that attitude reflects negatively on the agency. Therefore, this case should be handled tactfully.
Thirdly, before blaming the two male officers collect handful of resources and evidence against them in order to red hand caught them. Fourthly, recognize the female dispatchers and understand her mentality too in this regard, because there are certain cases where females do give or show false allegation for male staffs in order to put them in trouble, or experience certain intimate relationship with the male staff, where joking or gossiping frankly falls under a friendly zone (Jin & McDonald, 2017).
Fifthly, attention to detail range is quite necessary as a leader for this supervisor as he have to handle the team and the criminals together. As per the case scenario, he is being expected to solve the bad behaviour of the two male officers who were found sexually joking at a female dispatcher and even have to handle these types of difficult employees tactfully. In this regard, the supervisor is needed to attentively observe them throughout their duty hours and minutely notice their performances and nature.
After undergoing a thorough observation, certain things should be jotted down by the police supervisor. These would contain certain points such as, whether these officers keep relation with female staffs frequently or not, whether they maintain a substance or drug addictive life style or not, their on-duty performance, their outlook, their respect for female, their perspectives regarding their work or workplace and many more.
After jotting down these points, sixthly, discuss these matters personally with these male officers and request them not to repeat these tasks again. If ever they violate this promise, repeatedly certain steps should be initiated by the supervisor in order to control their repeated bad behaviour. In this regard, suspension, show causing or even transferring this type of ill-mannered employees or police officers is highly needed in order to change their behaviours and bring them on the right track.
Therefore, in these ways and through these several steps a police supervisor can maintain a good order within the organisation and control the bad behaviour of the male officers. Ignoring is not the solution, better not to react but remaining quite even after noticing something is wrong is yet a major crime. The sergeant should have convinced the male officers not to joke like that and should educate them not to disrespect any female staffs (Ma, Kao, Kao & Cho, 2020).
Scenario 2
As per this scenario, Officer Smith as a leader was no doubt capable as well as strong while maintaining the team and the controlling the criminal. However, he has a bad habit or nature to react sarcastically whenever any changes...
