Stereotypes is broadly held view about something or someone that can over simplify based on fundamental belief in the group (Augoustinos, M., & Walker, I., 1998). These stereotypes are normally based on gender, sex, race, identity, nationality, age, socioeconomic status and ethnicity. These stereotypes are deeply rooted in social institutions and even prevalent in the movies. By the virtue of this report, I worked on a commercial acclaimed and one of the most watched classic American comedy in 2006-2008, "Mean Girls". Well let’s just say, in 97 minutes Regina George, Karen Smit and Gretchen Wieners presented classic examples of how stereotypes are extensively used in high schools and other social institutions.
Mean Girls, movie actually started a behavior trend and theorized the gender-based attitude that is very commonly observed in middle schools, high schools and even in certain workplaces. What can be appalling is the influence and impact this movie has on social aggressive behavior in young adults both men and women/ boys and girls.
The movie showcases the life of teenagers in suburban high school where students are busy labeling other students and fellow classmates. As the movie open, we observe Cady Herson, sixteen-year old homeschooled by her parents’ returns to United States of America after completing twelve-year research in Africa. Cady is also the protagonist of the movie and she joins at North Shore High School to pursue her education. In the initial few days, Cady tries to make new friends but has no success because none of the fellow classmates wants to include her. However, after few days Cady befriends Damian Leigh and Janis Ian who inform about various social norms and prevailing cliques that is widespread in the school.

This lay a foundation of how people behave and react to stereotypes. Cady was warned to stay away from the popular group called as Plastics who is composed of beautiful yet callous Regina George, rich yet insecure Gretchen Wieners and sweet yet dumb Karen Smith.
