PowerPoint Presentation Guidelines and Rubric Presentation Overview: Pick a Challenge or General Topic in Developmental Psychology For this presentation examine a challenge that occurs during a particular stage of development (it is okay if the challenge might occur at more than one stage of development). Or as an alternative, research a specific issue in developmental psychology (does not have to be a problem or challenge). Consider what topics really jumped out at you in our work throughout this semester and follow up on one of those topics. Suggested Topics: Autism Child abuse Eating disorders Domestic violence Alzheimers Obesity Teens and sex Marriage Alternative families Adoption Learning disorders Elder abuse Elderly in homes for the aging Aging healthy Plastic surgery Friendship ….and much more! Of course all of these topics must be tied directly to concepts based on developmental psychology. Develop a PowerPoint presentation addressing the listed criteria. Your PPT should be between 15-­‐26 slides in length and thoroughly address all criteria listed below. In addition, you are required to select a minimum of two peer reviewed scholarly journal articles to support your work (other textbooks are not permitted). References and citations must be written in APA format. Please include color, graphics and creativity (this should not read like a research paper). Project Criteria: 1) Introduction (what will be covered?). (1 slides) 2) Overview of topic. (1-­‐2) 3) Major important facts regarding topic. (1-­‐4) 4) Discussion of relevant dev psych concepts, ideas and theories. Note: May be incorporated anywhere in the presentation as needed. (1-­‐3) 5) Relevant and current research on topic (2-­‐4) a. Does nature or nurture (or both) impact how we develop or deal the topic being discussed? Be thorough here. b. Provide current, relevant examples where possible. 6) Discuss the ways in which culture might impact this topic? (1-­‐2) 7) How does this topic impact development or quality of life? Does it have an impact on others? (1-­‐2) 8) If relevant, what can be done to address challenges? (1-­‐2). 9) If relevant, are there warning signs/symptoms to consider?
