This is a graded discussion: 10 points possible Due Jan 19 Mesopotamia Primary Source Discussion You are required to respond to the question below by Tuesday @ 11:59pm. After you submit your response, please read my response and that of your classmates, and respond to YOUR OWN essay with any additions of things you missed or are rethinking based on the other responses. Was Gilgamesh a good ruler or a bad ruler according to his people and how did Mesopotamians think an ideal ruler should act?
Gilgamesh was a semi mythic king who was considered as god as well as man. He was a brave warrior, ambitious builder and fair judge who surrounded the Uruk city with erects and magnificent walls, laid out fields and orchards and built temple towers. He was considered as 2/3rd god and 1/3rd mortal. He was a powerful kind but was not great king. He had many good traits like leadership, fair judging and fighting over evils but he sometimes tormented his people and exhausted them in their daily life while giving him right to sleep with any women he likes. According to his people, he was a good leader as he worked out for infrastructure of city and he brough back the humanity of Enkidu, became friend with Enkidu, defeated Humbaba, Ishar and Heaven Bull. Also, he crossed the sea of death.
