Introduction
ISO14001 is the international standards protocol which will define the framework to which the organizations are expected to comply with. The objective of this set of standards is the environmental compliance. They do define the set of the international regulations in liaison with the state and national regulations to define the operational role of the organizations in general. Since ISO14001 is the environmental regulation, there are several stakeholders getting directly impacted with these regulations. At large, all the stakeholders of the organization like general public either directly or indirectly connected with the organization will get impacted by these regulations. AA1000 are meant to enhance the sustainability accountability of the organizations. There are three different aspects of these AA1000 standards, which organizations need to follow, typical divisions of these standards include accountability, reporting and overall sustainability performance of the organization(Henriques,2017). The following part of the discussion will focus more on these aspects and will discuss how these standards will protect the interests of the stakeholders in more detail. Further the discussion focuses on the aspects like the specific advantages and implications to the stakeholders with long term investment interests in the organization. Also an overview of compliance of these regulations and standards in the context of kingdom of Saudi-Arabia is discussed.
ISO 14001 and AA1000 standards and the protection of the stakeholders:
It is true that ISO14001 and AA1000 standards do offer all the necessary protection to the stakeholders by letting the organization remaining environmentally responsible. There are three different main streams of actions which ISO14001 standards insist the organization to comply with. At the outset the organization is expected to identify all its environmental legal obligations and should become familiar with the laws and regulations in this regard. Further organization should ensure a mechanism in the organization to meet its legal obligations in timely manner. Second principle insists the organization to take part of an active role in implementing the environmental management systems and finally the compliance of the legal and regulatory requirements need to be verified on periodic basis and monitoring and compliance is to be ensured.
