There are numerous evidences that gene(s) may influence alcohol dependence (Tabakoff
and Hoffman 2000). Now, scientists are trying to get an idea about the specific genes which are
involved in metabolism of alcohol. Though, there are various factors due to which such an
identification cannot be termed an easy procedure for instance; a number of genes may be
involved in the route, gene environment interaction may make the practice of diagnosis difficult
etc. But, owing to the rapid growth in research technologies which are related with the
classification of genes, such an analysis cannot be called impossible today (Crabbe, 2002).
