Introduction
A literature-rich en
vironment is referring to the setting of a situation that allows students in case of making their active participation along with their disabilities. Therefore, the literacy-rich environment also offers the opportunity in front of the students to participate in language and literacy-based activities. The activities that this environment is propagating to the students can be performed based on the performances of the day-to-day life actions of students (Otto, 2017). This process also helps students to understand the utility and functions of oral as well as written languages in the overall development of their education.
The discussion of this paper is based on the presentation of a literacy-rich environment to the students for their overall development. The presence of three basic environments allows students to enrich their language and oral skills. Furthermore, the evaluation of those three environments according to the literacy-rich principles also analyzed with the detailed format. This process can help to deliver the best methods to develop literacy among students. The presentation of the discussion part also offers best methods in the recommendation part that may help in the development of the adoption of a literacy-rich environment for the development of the students in every aspect of their life cycle.
Objectives
Within this project, there is the presence of some objectives. The objectives of this paper are:
· To identify the literacy-rich environment for students
In order to propagate education as well as provide the children with the right amount of knowledge, which they require in their growing age, setting up a literacy-enriched environment is very import.
· To evaluate the importance of a literacy-rich environment for students' development
The identification of the literacy-rich environment can help the teachers as well as help the parents of the students to establish that environment for them. Therefore, the evaluation of the importance of that environment can help in the implementation of those environments in the development process of students in school and also in their home.
Designing of Three Literacy-enriched Environment
The first literacy enriched environment for the children can be made by creating libraries in their homes. Libraries are the places where the children get to know more about different things in this world. Reading books help individuals in all possible ways. Through reading books, the children can understand the various dynamics of this world. A library contains a variety of books. If a library can be made in a child's room, the child will get access to a different world.
Reading is a good habit. Reading makes a man literate about everything. If the habit of reading is implemented at a small age, the child would not only learn many things about the world but it will also have an impact on the language of the child (Menn & Stoel‐Gammon, 2017). Reading books helps in discovering new words. To improve the language skills of the children, book reading is very important.
A library can be set up in a child's room to make sure that the child becomes literate and learns about the world. Reading books helps the child in breaking cultural and social barriers. The library should come up with different types of books that evoke the interests of the child. The books should obtain stories that teach moral values and understanding (Otto, 2017). Through such an environment, children can learn to be literate and learn the good language as well.
The second literacy enriched environment is to create word walls in the child's rooms. Word walls refer to the corners of the walls where the child writes down different words that he or she learns. In the word walls, the child not only writes new words but also learns new words as well. The word walls are a fantasy play for the children. The literacy-enriched environment for the children and young people can be created by making this word wall (Otto, 2017).
A word wall is a place in the room that contains different words that manifest the thought process of young people. Through the concept of the word wall, the children can learn a lot of new words and ideas as well. The ideas can be learnt because the words are not mere words but each word conveys a different idea. Therefore, the idea of creating the word wall would help the children in making sure that they not only learn new words but also they can convey their feelings into the wall. To become truly literate it is very essential that an individual can speak up his or her mind when necessary (Peterson, Riggs, Guyon-Harris, Harrison & Huth-Bocks, 2019). A child needs to have a word wall in his or her room or even in the classroom so the children can...
