In your own time, please complete all of the activities listed below.


In this project you are required to write a report detailing one (1) safe work practice used in an education and care services environment.


Your report must be around 500 – 600 words, covering the following:




  • a)Overview: Specific details of the safe work practice.


  • b)Context: When the safe work practice is applied.


  • c)Daily use: How you would incorporate this and other safe work practices into your daily tasks/job role.


  • d)Breaches: The consequences of breaching safe work practices.


  • e)Communication methods: How information on safe work practices can be communicated to all members of staff.


  • f)Staff contribution: How members of staff can contribute to the development and implementation of new safe work policies and procedures, and practices in their work.


  • g)Implementing changes: How changes in legislation determining safe work policies and practices, use of equipment and processes are identified and incorporated into current workplace WHS policies and practices.


  • h)References: Where you located information on the selected safe work practice and other details in your report.

· a) Overview: Specific details of the safe work practice.
In education and care services, many activities are associated with lifting and moving. There is a need to provide training on the guidelines of the OHS Act so that the training can help them to understand the various aspects of managing the hazards in the workplace www.worksafe.vic.gov.au (2019). A safe work place practice related to this is to set up a list of Do’s and Don’ts that can help to mitigate the issue.
· b) Context: When the safe work practice is applied.
The practice needs to be applied in the education and care services environment when there are jobs that are related to lifting children, moving heavy objects to make spaces, bending and squatting to the height of the child.
· c)Daily use: How you would incorporate this and other safe work practices into your daily tasks/job role.
In order to ensure that there is much less pressure on the skeletal structure and the joints and the muscles it is important that the layout of the office rather the play zone of the child be made in a way that there will be minimalistic lifting.
