    Safaricom Private Limited Company is the largest telecommunications services provider in Kenya, which operates out of Safaricom House in Nairobi. Background

The Kenyan market is controlled by Safaricom at an approximate value of 63.5% as of 30 June 2019. Safaricom PLC was founded as a fully owned subsidiary of Telkom Kenya in 1997. The telecom giant of the United Kingdom, Vodafone acquired 40% of Safaricom's stake and management in May 2020. The Kenyan government publicised 25% of Safaricom’s shares through the Nairobi Securities Exchange in 2008. Safaricom was in the past named as Africa’s Best Employer and it ranked 67th in the global list of World’s 200 Best Employers, as published by the esteemed Forbes magazine.
