[email protected] - Gmail (@ Guidelines for Assignment 2 T2 2022 - HBS108 - Health Information And Data Guidelines for Assignment 2 T2 2022 ~ oR <> Assignment Two: Written Assignment (individual submission) Word Count: 1200 words (+/- 10% - but underwriting is particularly discouraged) Grading: 30% Due: Thursday, September 15, 8pm AEST Unlike typical essay formats, students are encouraged to work their way through each section and use subheads Section One and Section Two and numbering from the rubric to indicate which part of the question they are answering at any given time. Tasks Background to Section One You are a reviewer with a high-quality and prestigious Indigenous journal. A research team has approached you to advise them on what you would suggest as the key elements to consider when conducting their study so that their approach and reporting meets the expected standards (from planning through to dissemination of findings) when conducting research among Indigenous peoples. Their research project focuses on trying to identify barriers to Closing the Gap among one of the targets that are not on track, according to the latest data (2022). Section One Tasks According to June 2022 data, four of the 17 Close the Gap socioeconomic-related targets are on track — the rest are not. Identify the latest Closing the Gap data outcomes and select one of the targets that are not on-track to discuss with the researchers. 1) Provide a short overview of the data relating to that target and 2) discuss what could be the reasons why this particular target has not improved, according to the information you have retrieved. (/2.5) This shows your ability to conduct a literature search, interpret data and apply critical thinking in the process. 3) Based on information from the unit’s essential and recommended readings, as well as seminar content and discussions, a) identify a minimum of five (5) key elements for the researchers to consider when conducting research among Indigenous peoples (these could apply to any stages from initial research design to disseminating findings) when conducting their research and 4) state why they are important. (/5) Although unit content material is useful as a starting point and guide, ensure references demonstrate wider reading, so that your assignment isn’t simply about providing references that have already been provided to you. Demonstrate your ability to search the literature and find what you need to make your case. Considering the actual target the researchers are aiming to improve, suggest any relevant: 5) Quantitative approaches for data collection 6) Qualitative approaches for data collection — so that the outcomes can be used for measuring any future progress in the same target category. (/2.5) If the target already includes specific quantitative/qualitative measures/approaches — acknowledge these, but also provide additional suggestions. dol LL Ral fe] LJ el EeloIN] -Lal@] a M-1C LCF | & [¢ Safari File Edit View History Bookmarks Window Help Wed 14 Sep 3:36 pm [EHR 0 B & d2l.deakin.edu.au UE South East - Roster Links and Availability -

(/2.5) If the target already includes specific quantitative/qualitative measures/approaches — acknowledge these, but also provide additional suggestions. This section demonstrates your knowledge of quantitative and qualitative approaches, the differences, how they can be used in useful ways and how they are constructed (i.e. their qualities and characteristics). Section Two Tasks The remaining questions relate to the following journal article (this is provided in the At2 folder): Punukollu, M., Burns, C., & Marques, M. (2020). Effectiveness of a pilot school-based intervention on improving Scottish students’ mental health: a mixed methods evaluation, International Journal of Adolescence and Youth, 25:1, pp. 505-518. DOI: 10.1080/02673843.2019.1674167 https://doi.org/10.1080/02673843.2019.1674167 The authors mention using ‘an explanatory sequential mixed methods design’. 7) Write a definition of what that means 8) Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this form of mixed-methods approach. (/5) One of the research questions asks: Is there a statistically and clinically significant change in emotional distress between pre- and post-implementation of the SafeSpot programme? 9) Provide a response to this question, based on reported findings from the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS). (/5) 10) Summarise at least four (4) limitations of the study 11) For each example you provide, discuss a solution that could address the limitation effectively. (/5) Document Management (/2.5) Aftitle page is required with the title, student name and number and word count. The assignment should have page numbers. The pages should be numbered and make sure there are no punctuation, grammar or spelling errors. Format the assignment by giving the Assignment question number (e.g. Q2.) followed by the response in paragraph form. No bullet points. Referencing (/2.5) All assignments should be in APA referencing format. A minimum of 8 references are required in a reference list. Although documents and content already provided within the unit might be cited and referenced, they won't contribute to the minimum required. This is to ensure students demonstrate wider reading and literature search skills. +® Reflect in ePortfolio @» Download gm Print AV Alternative formats Jol NR) de] Ll Rel El NL
