Sadly, mass shootings are now the norm in American society. Why do Americans love their guns more than their own safety or the safety of others? It appears that no one is safe - not at a university, airport, school, mall, concert, movie theater or at work. When I attended school in Houston in the late 80s and 90s, I never had to practice a "lock-down" or active shooter drill. But now my children are constantly practicing lock down drills in case of an active shooter.
