Rotter’s most important concept is locus of control, the extent to which a person believes that reinforcements are driven by his or her own behavior (internal locus) or by other people or outside forces (external locus). Who among the significant persons in your life do you think has the strongest internal locus of control? Who has the strongest external locus of control? Describe the characteristics of these individuals. In what ways if any are their personalities distinctly different, or are they predominantly the same?
