Short Term and Long-Term Goals of Caterpillar Incorporation
Short term goals of the company are defined as those goals that can be achieved within short time of a financial year. Most of it is considered that can be achieved within a year or so. While long term goals are referred to as those proportions that are provided by the company for achieving in a span of more than two years (Woolley & Fishbach, 2017). Being one of the leading producers in the heavy equipment industry the short-term goal of the Caterpillar Incorporation is to increase the budget of advertising in the recent months. In the prevalent throat cutting competition advertising is an effective medium to reach out to the consumers. Selecting a medium for advertisement like a billboard in a major city for 1 month is an obvious short-term goal. Besides the company needs to design facilities and measures so as to reduce the emission of the greenhouse gases. At the same time the company needs to reduce the consumption of water and take up methods that are focused on renewable resources. Advertising and reduce consumption of exhaustible resources are the two main short-term goals of the Caterpillar Incorporation.
While as a part of long-term goal the industry focused on increasing its long-term revenue. Along with this suitable environment of growth of the business operations and sustainable productive methods must be appointed for striving in this global market. Measures were taken to minimize cost in the long run and thereby enhancing profitability of the business.
