Review the information about listening. Identify a specific relational partner (person who you are currently involved in a close relationship with such as significant other, mother, father, friend, son, daughter) and who you have recently had some significant conflict or difficulty in effectively communicating in which you think listening was an issue. Write an analysis in paragraph format that addresses the following:

1. According to the results of your listening style inventory, what type of listener are you (relational, analytical, task-oriented, critical)? Do you believe this is accurate? Explain.


2. Drawing from the listening styles identified in your text (people, action, content, and time oriented), indicate which of these listening styles you think best represents you. Explain.


3. What type of listener do you believe your relational partner chosen for this analysis is? Note: the other person does not need to take the assessment. You can make choices and explain why you chose those styles.

   Think of an exchange(s) you have had with the relational partner that you identified for question 3 in which you experienced conflict with this person andyou think listening was a significant issue. Make sure you choose an exchange that is substantive and significant enough for meaningful application of the course material. In your response, describe the exchange in detail and discuss the key listening barriers (at least two) that you think impacted the effectiveness of your communication with this person (make sure you discuss barriers from this week’s materials).In your discussion of barriers, identify the barrier, explain what this barrier is, and then explain how/why it was present in your exchange.

Identify at least two specific listening strategiesfrom this week’s materialsthat you think would have been beneficial for you to employ in your exchange to increase the effectiveness of your communication. Be as specific and concrete as possible as to how you could have used the strategy and how its use could have led to more productive communication.
