Reverse Storyboard

Choose a scene from a film or animation that has 10 shots, and watch the video.

Every time there is a cut, pause the video, and draw what you see in a storyboard panel. Pay attention to the position of characters/backgrounds in relation to the frame edge.

Animation is good to do this with, since they have been storyboarded. But you can choose a live action source, too. Ideally, something with a 16x9 aspect ratio (HD) works best.

Note: Do not select a YouTube clip which is fan-generated (like a montage of somebody’s favorite clips set to their favorite pop song. It won’t be very helpful to analyze since things are not in the correct order.) “Funniest moments," movie trailers or title sequences don’t work for the same reason.
