Research Proposal: Step Three

Throughout the next six weeks, you will plan and propose a quantitative research design of your choice, which may (or may not) involve an area of interest for your doctoral dissertation. You will select a research topic, generate testable hypotheses, review relevant literature, describe participant selection procedures, identify data collection methods, describe the proposed quantitative research design, address potential ethical problems, and describe limitations of your research proposal.

This assignment is the third step toward completing your final research proposal in Week 6. In aone to two page paper, in addition to the Title Page and References Page, answer the following. Please use the Kallet (2004) article for further guidance on how to prepare the methods section.

Participant Selection and Sampling Procedures:Explain how you will select your sample. This part of your proposal should read like a detailed set of instructions that someone else could follow and execute without your help. You should cover the following questions:

  1. Who or what is your target population?

  2. What is your sample size?

  3. Where will you obtain your sample?

  4. Is the sample representative of the defined population?

  5. How many groups will you have?

  6. What sampling method do you plan to use (e.g., randomization, convenience sampling, etc.)? Why do you plan to use this method as opposed to others that are available?

  7. How will the sample be collected?

Be sure to discuss how informed consent, privacy, anonymity, and confidentiality will be addressed in the study.

Be sure to include an APA formatted title page and references page.

Hypothesis
The hypothesis Costco is better than Walmart and Target Retail Corporations in the SWOT Analysis to be tested by the quantitative method by random sampling discussed in step three.
Dependent and Independent Variables
SWOT of Costco is the independent while the SWOT of Walmart and Target Retails are dependent variables in this study. The questionnaire is framed accordingly to test these variables. The results obtained would indicate the impact of the independent variable the dependent variables of the study.
a. Target Population
The study is to analyze the Strength, Weakness, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) of the three wholesale retailers Walmart Inc., Target wholesalers and Costco Inc. The method of surveys is to be implemented here to get the desired results to analyze, which of the three organizations are most preferred by the customers.
The target population for the study is similar to the target audience of the three wholesale retail companies. The demographics of the customers include men and women falling in the age group of twenty-five to forty-four (Inspira Marketing, 2020). The household income group bracket from 20 k to 90 k (Numerator, 2020).
Shopping at Costco has a slightly different proposition of memberships. The individual targeted here are those from suburban group, which comprises of older and in the middle-class income group. The reason for the middle-class target segment is due to the membership cost, which is about fifty-five dollars for one year. Costco ideally prefers the members who are financially stable to afford the annual cost and repeat buy the membership. This target segment would also be a part of the study for a better and clearer picture.
b. Sample Size
The determination of the sample size has been discussed widely. Determining and arriving at the right sample size is very crucial. If the size is too small it may give an incorrect picture while if a large or too diverse sample size is chosen, conducting the survey and data collection itself could be challenging and may be impractical to complete. Choosing the right sample size is still a challenge for the researchers. The sample size is required to be considered carefully as the statistical techniques are heavily dependent on it.
Considering these arguments, the sample size for this...
