Introduction
Fires in the resident halls is something which has become extensively common and obvious now days. The news of fires breaking out at some specific places have become daily headlines but the fires in the resident halls in the country like US have become a very fluent thing currently. In the United States, college and university students living on campus in residence halls are experiencing a certain growth in the number of fire related emergencies. In this research paper it is portrayed what are the main reasons and causes behind the fire in the resident halls. Along with the reasons the measures through which this fire outbreak could be minimized is also mentioned.
In the recent times there is a certain hike observed in the cases of the fire outbreak in the resident halls. It is observed that in fraction of second sparks or a small flame can become a large fire. In a very small-time interval, it was measured that there were approximately 1300 fires that occur in high school and colleges and university residence halls. Most fires in residence halls occurs between the hours of 1:00 am and 7:00 am. Cooking is specifically considered as one of the leading causes of residence hall fires. There are eventually three basic elements behind the outbreak of fire an ignition source, fuel and air.
Potential Fuel Sources in Residence Halls
The residence hall is a specific area where there are immense potential fuel sources among which some of the major ones are upholstered furniture, mattresses and bedding these substances can add on to ignite the fire that occurs due to small flame. In the resident halls there are items like drapes, curtains and combustible free hanging decorations, all of these can easily catch on the fire.
