Required Text: Snyder, D. (2014). Elder crime, elder justice. Jones and Bartlett. I OLDER AMERICANS AND THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM MODULE 1, SOCIAL GERONTOLOGY AND PHYSICAL CHANGES WITH AGE This module examines changes that take place with aging, and invites us to begin to think about how the Criminal Justice System (beginning with the police) should interact with older Americans, as well as how the physical changes that occur in the human body might contribute to 1) criminal behavior in which older people engage; 2) crime victimization older people experience; and, 3) fear of crime. We will examine each of these areas more thoroughly as the term progresses, but this module will lay the foundation for an understanding of some of the physiological aspects of aging. This Module consists of the following activities: 1. Read Chapters 1 and 2 of the text. 2. Read the following government site, which provides updated information on aging in America (updates information contained in Chapter 1 of the text): https://www.acl.gov/sites/default/files/Aging%20and%20Disability%20in%20America/2016-Profile.pdf Read the following refereed articles.
