Remdesivir and COVID-19 ~Remdesivir is a drug that was developed to treat viral infections. A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial was conducted during the months of February, March, and April, 2020 to evaluate the safety and efficacy of remdesivir in adults hospitalized with COVID-19.Researchers examined the results of 1,063 participants who were given either daily treatment of remdesivir delivered intravenously or an intravenous placebo. The variable of primary interest to the researchers was time to recovery of the patient measured in days.Initial results from the study show that remdesivir accelerates recovery from COVID-19.
