of the three religious groups listed below to write about. The intention of this assignment is to provide you with an opportunity to expand and deepen your knowledge of the religious group and its presence in the United States. Your paper should be structured in two parts:

1. 
   The history of the group in the United States, including information pertaining to the tension between cultural assimilation and the maintenance of a separate religious identity;


2. Description of recent events involving discrimination, harassment and hate crimes against this religious group, and actions that are being taken to prevent such forms of intolerance.

Religious groups: African American/Black Christian congregations; Islamic congregations; Jewish congregations.
