    Those born into positions of power and privilege sometimes find it diffi
cult to acknowledge their own privilege, particularly the luxury of being a white man in a society that has traditionally catered to our needs. It is painfully clear to those who did not have the benefit of experiencing it (Pearson &Verass,2014). In addition, many white people do not believe they are powerful or that they have advantages that others do not, making it very challenging to have a conversation on the subject. It's like expecting a fish to think about water or a bird to think about air. It just doesn't make sense. It's just the way things are; it's not unusual for people who get special treatment because of their race or gender, wealth or physical prowess, sexual orientation or age (Bell,2021).
