Reflection note on 3 lecture videos

Assignment Reflective Diary (30%) (Individual Assignment) Students are required to: Write and submit a Reflective Diary of 2000 words +/- 10% (not including title page and references). 1. Document key learnings from the weekly lecture seminars and readings and their application in contemporary organisations e.g. record key insights/ideas/intentions. 2. Critically reflect on at least three (3) seminars attended. Do not reflect on seminars that you did not attend. 3. Choose 1-2 concepts/theories/models from each of the three (3) chosen lecture seminars and document your critical reflections. Do not summarise the entire lecture seminar. Structure: The diary needs to include the following sections: Title page · Include a title, unit name and number, student name and number. Critical Reflection/Analysis · The text should begin on page 2. · Use subheadings to indicate from which lecture seminar the concepts/theories/models are taken. · Do not focus only on describing the concept/theory/model and/or your experiences, include critical reflection/analysis. · Include research-based evidence e.g. referenced academic texts, published journal articles, to support your critical reflections. Personal Learnings · Comment on your personal learnings from this exercise. References · Should conform to the American Psychological Association (APA) or Harvard referencing style. · Where applicable, author(s) name(s), journal title/book title, chapter title/article title, year of publication, volume number/book chapter and the pagination must be present. Use of DOI is highly encouraged. See: https://canberra.libguides.com/referencing · Do not include URLs (exceptions e.g. government websites, industry websites). · Do not include URLs when referencing academic journal articles. Writing Considerations: · The Reflective Diary is a 'critical' reflection on the leadership concepts/theories/models discussed throughout the unit and their application in contemporary organisations. It is not a summary of the textbook chapter or lecture seminar content. It is not a ‘Personal’ diary. · Critical reflection/analysis means asking why are things the way they are? What does the theory suggest? How relevant is the theory to organisational life? To what extent does theory and organisational reality match? If not, why not? If so, which aspects and how? · The Reflective Diary needs to include the student’s critical thinking and should be the student's own work. It is not based on research however students must acknowledge others' work appropriately i.e. ideas and/or quotes of others’ must be referenced. · Write in the first person i.e. ‘I’. Do not use 'we’ as the student is the sole author of the work. · Use formal language. Do not use colloquialisms or slang. · Some guiding questions for reflection include: · What were the main concepts/theories/models discussed? · What are the benefits and/or challenges that you foresee when applying leadership concepts/theories/models in organisational practice? · How might leadership concepts/theories/models be applicable to your role/job/organisation/profession? · What have you learned? · Has your understanding of leadership changed or been reinforced by the ideas presented in the weekly lecture seminar? Formatting: · The assignment should be formatted according to accepted academic requirements for formal written work i.e. text should be in Times New Roman, 12pt, double-spaced, and all page margins will be 2.54 cm. Use headings and subheadings. Include page numbers in the footer of the document. Page numbering should continue through all pages including references. Word Count: · The word count includes all in-text references and quotes but does not include the title page or the reference list. · ±10% leeway is allowed e.g. within 1800 to 2200 words. · The part of the essay that exceeds the word limit will not be marked. · Essays which are under the word limit will be considered an incomplete assessment task. · Excessive use of quotes will be penalised. Submission: · The assignment should be submitted to URKUND to check for text matching in the Draft Assignment Submission Box. · High URKUND reports will be sent directly to Associate Dean of Education Office for further investigation. As a student from University of Canberra you are responsible to familiarise yourself with UC policies concerning academic misconduct including plagiarism. · Only WORD documents will be accepted. · Only assignments submitted through CANVAS will be accepted. · Upload Assignment 2 as a WORD docx according to the following format: student number Assignment 2.docx e.g. 3182234 Assignment 2.docx. · Upload Assignment 2 to CANVAS by the assignment due date: Sunday 27th October 2019, 23:55.
