Consider some of the following questions: How confident do you feel about making a proposal that might lead to improvements in the functioning of a group or community? Does your proposal attempt to bring about fundamental or minor change in the group? Whose interest would be served by the solution you propose? Who else might be affected? In what ways does your proposal challenge the status quo in the group? What contribution might essays proposing solutions to problems make to our society that other genres of writing cannot make?
