Answer: The purpose of paragraphs 1-5 is to set a credibility and establish his own history in the land of America and express his gratitude towards his motherland.
2. How do paragraph 6-7 support speakers claim?
Answer: To support the claims he made in the previous paragraphs, Obama, in paragraph 6 and 7 places current examples of people undergoing poverty and are underprivileged.
3. Paragraph 8 starts, “In this electron, we offer that choice...” What is the shift that occurs here?
Answer: The shift of tone taking place here suggests that until paragraph 7 Obama was explaining the loss and poverty but with paragraph 8, he started to put forward his election manifesto and how he can work and make others work for the benefit of the country.
