Wollstonecraft’s reflections on Risor
On her way to the Risor, Wollstonecraft is drawn to the way n
ature surrounds this place in the form of rocks. The major landscape seems to be covered in stones and likewise, the nature of the inhabitants of Risor is cold and rocky. The place, to the author, seems to be barely civilized and etched in solitude and loneliness.
Wollstonecraft calls Risor a prison very much like the bastilles (131). It is set in rock, hovered over by a rock and the coast is mostly rocky....
