Read the following case study and answer the questions at the end: Mary’s mother was very concerned when she received her second grader’s scores on the Stanford Achievement Test. Mary scored at the 99th percentile on Total Mathematics but only at the 81st on Total Reading. Mary scored at the 95th percentile on Spelling but at the 45th on Language and 54th on Science. She had been tested for the gifted program and was accepted by virtue of a 133 score on the Stanford–Binet Intelligence Scale. Mary’s mother can’t make any sense out of the test scores and wants the teachers and counselors to help her daughter improve her scores.
