The voice-controlled Amazon Echo smart speaker has more than 50 million Amazon Echo devices in circulation. However, these features alone do not make Amazon unique-especially in a world where Apple and Google are the main players. However, what makes Echo unique is its rich links with users' Amazon accounts, including the capability to shop in the world's biggest market via voice (Festerling & Siraj, 2020). As performing multitasking as well as maintaining hands-free status, clients can find products and finish transactions. On average, in the past year, the per capita household CPG product spending of all Amazon households has increased, but between Echo buyers, this increase has been even greater. After purchasing the Echo, the CPG spending of Echo buyers on Amazon raised by 29%, while the CPG spending of all Amazon shoppers increased by 19%. The reason for the increase in CPG spending is that the purchase volume is slightly smaller but the purchase frequency is higher. After Echo buyers bought Echo, their expenses per checkout decreased by one dollar, but in this year, they purchased more than 7 more (McLean & Osei-Frimpong, 2019). Now, millions of consumers can easily ask Alexa for shopping help, which not only affects the final transaction, but also affects the consideration, intention and decision-making stages of the purchase path.
Brands and developers are nearby, and these large technology companies are building applications for these devices. Brands in media, entertainment, retail, travel, banking, local, CPG and many other industries have built voice applications for Alexa.
