Response One:
The main idea of the two articles belongs to the analysis of the complex social structure
of America as a nation. Both the authors have similar opinion about the idea that after the en
d of
World War II, the American society has grown as liberals, welcoming people from all parts of
the world and racial inequity has reduced up to a great extent though, the fact can’t be denied
that it still exists. The authors’ have a proposed idea of study that under the light of gender
inequality, racial discrimination and class distinction, America has seen drastic changes in its
personal and cultural values; there had a great conflict between the locals and the migrants
initially which at times took violent turns. However, with the gradual and long procedure of
cultural understanding on mutual bases, these conflicts are now subsided.
Response Two:
In the given two articles, the question of racial inequality and transition in the thinking of
people has been discussed in detail by the esteemed authors. While in the first article entitled
Experiencing Race, Class and Gender in United States the author beams through the concepts of
race an applies the social theories of assimilation through pre-dominance of native residents over
the migrants, she also accepts the multicultural infrastructure of the society as well.
Contrary to this thought, the second article entitled Race, Class and Gender in United
States: An Integral Study, the author feels that the spirit of separatism still dominates the scene in
social values; she is of the view that the in certain social spheres of America as a nation, people
tend to disagree with its global understanding as a melting pot and they ensure that their own
social values of conservatism and racial superiority are acknowledged.
At first, the first article presents the theory of assimilation which is one of the most
